Children’s Dentistry
Our friendly Eltham team specialise in Children’s Dentistry.
Regular dental check-ups for children from two years of age are important to develop good dental health habits and prevent future dental problems. In fact, we encourage our youngest patients, to become familiar with the dental setting from as early as their first tooth erupting in the mouth. These examinations are done using a knee-to-knee approach, so they are close to you and comfortable the whole time.
Coming along to mum and dad’s visit is a great way to start getting your children comfortable with visiting the dentist.
A positive first visit can be the first step toward a lifetime of good dental habits. The visit would usually start with a ride in the dental chair and counting their teeth, checking the gums and sometimes being able to gently clean their teeth.
We know how important a great smile is for a child’s confidence and we are passionate about educating children from an early age about the advantages of looking after their teeth and gums.
Tooth decay is damage that occurs when germs (bacteria) in the mouth makes acids that eat away at a tooth. It can lead to a hole in the tooth called a cavity. If not treated, tooth decay can cause pain, infection and tooth loss.
